DPS

Tumour detection using light

Differential Pathlength Spectroscopy (DPS) is a patented technology that uses white light to detect tumours in patients. DPS measures the oxygen saturation, the blood volume and the average blood vessel diameter in tissues and organs. Tumours are characterised by a high use of oxygen and the formation of new (small) vessels and this is how they can be distinguished optically from healthy tissue
The technology was developed at the Erasmus Medical Centre and was marketed by Luminostix. Read more about it in the product information
