A new statute of the US Security and Trade Committee obliges the indication of conflict materials in products. This involves minerals mined in conflict regions such as Congo and surrounding countries. These include gold, tin, tantalum and tungsten independent of where they were mined, processed and sold.
A business registers whether suppliers comply with the Conflict Minerals guidelines. Similar registration takes place for the European guidelines RoHS (lead, chromium, cadmium, mercury) and REACH (chemical substances). This system shows that these guidelines are clearly being complied with.
