Innovating for the future
The TU/e Contest offers engineering students an annual competition and a platform to turn innovative ideas—focused on major societal challenges—into feasible concepts that can make a real impact. Over the course of five months, student teams work on their concepts in collaboration with a diverse network of experts from academia, industry, and society (large corporations, SMEs, NGOs, government agencies, civil society organizations, etc.). Through an extracurricular program of workshops, brainstorming sessions, and networking events, they develop entrepreneurial skills and prepare for their roles as the engineers of the future.
The TU/e Contest is an initiative of TU/e Innovation Space, supported by the TU/e Knowledge Transfer Office. In 2025, the TU/e Contest celebrated its 11th edition with 160 participants and more than 25 partners. Unitron is proud to be a partner in this initiative, through which we contribute to supporting young talent and innovative solutions for societal challenges.
Last year, Unitron guided the iGEM team in developing a self-test for detecting BAM.
In 2025, the iGEM student team worked on a smart and affordable way to detect bile acid malabsorption (BAM), a bowel disease, more quickly and reliably. Current tests are often expensive, complicated, or even unavailable. Thanks to the new test, more patients can be reached, diagnosis can be made more quickly, and unnecessary discomfort can be avoided.
Unitron is proud to support iGEM Eindhoven/Team BRIGHT. As a sponsor, we believe that the Bile Acid Responsive Indicator can truly make a difference for people. At Unitron, we encourage BRIGHT’s smart innovation to continue growing and ultimately find its way into clinical practice, where it is most needed to improve the diagnosis of bile acid malabsorption (BAM).
Together with young talents, we are building better healthcare and smart solutions for the future.
